Problems of the Window Air Conditioners

May 10th

Window air conditioners units are sometimes the most economical way for a family to keep their house cool when it’s hot. These units are mounted in an open window, allowing the hot exhaust pipe to flow outwards. They are not as efficient at cooling a larger house as a central air conditioning system, but they work quite well with single rooms or small dwellings. They are not without their problems, however.

A window air conditioner requires electricity to operate, so if the unit does not turn on at all, you may not be able to reach it. Check the plug to make sure it is properly connected to an appropriate outlet, and examine the fuse box to see if a switch has been thrown from an overload, according to the Clinic repair website.

If your window air conditioner is blowing, but the air that comes out is not fresh, the compressor may not be working properly. A window air conditioner has two motors: one to operate the compressor and another to turn off the fan. The fan may be blowing, but the compressor may be down, causing the unit to expel at room temperature or even hot air. The compressor makes a different buzz when it is pulled forward, and that often causes the lights to turn off because of the energy needed to start it.
