How to Compare Window Ac

May 10th

Comparing different window AC units ensures that the device you purchase will perform well in your home. According to Consumer Reports, you can save on your summer cooling costs by choosing the right device window AC for your space. Also, by purchasing a unit window AC manufactured after January 1, 2010, you will purchase an AC unit that does not use the refrigerant R-22, a greenhouse gas donor.

Create a list of at least three different AC units. Record the specifications specified by the manufacturer. Include BTU ratings, functions, sound level, reviews, window type and size. Measure your room to determine the number of square meters that the AC unit window needs to cool down. To calculate your room in square meters, measure the length and width of the room, then multiply these two numbers together. See the link in the Resources section for a complete list. Look at your list of AC units to determine which ones have appropriate BTU ratings and eliminate models that do not.

Measure the size of the window the AC unit will go in. Determine whether the window is double-hung, arch or slider. Examine your list for AC devices compatible with your window type and size. Discard models that are incompatible. Read user reviews for all your selections. Note in particular what the users are saying about noise level and efficiency. Remove devices that get bad user reviews.
