Apr 18th

If you have a pond and you want to keep Koi or other fish you need a pond aerator for some types. And to save on a budget, homemade pond aerator can be solution. In the hot spring and in the warmer summer months the oxygen levels dissolved in the pond can drop dramatically. This drop in dissolved oxygen levels can put the fish under stress or even cause death. For smaller ponds or shallow areas in a pond it is possible to use a simple air pump with pipes and air stones.

To make koi pond aeration yourself is not difficult. Make 10 to 15 holes in the body and the lid of the bucket. This allows the water to pass and will give the pipes exit points. Drill two holes in the center of the lid to tie a rope. Place the pump in the bucket and surround the legs with gravel. The gravel will give weight to the container and the pump. Feed the pump outlet tubes through the holes in the bowl so that the tubes protrude slightly. Place the lid on the bucket and tie the rope to the lid.

Replace the lid and lower the bucket to the floor. Watch the pump until you see bubbles continuously emerging. And the homemade fish pond aerator pumps were done.
